Grottoes, Va. (July 14, 2023) – Turnberry Records proudly announces two new singles from Caleb Bailey & Paine's Run. The band’s new Bluegrass music single "Pride of Appalachia" and the Bluegrass Gospel single "Hard Working Preacher Man" are available for streaming and purchasing at all major outlets. 

"Pride of Appalachia" was written by singer-songwriter Caleb Bailey who is a direct descendant of the Dean family who was extracted from the Blue Ridge Mountains, now the Skyline Drive National Park. The song tells of some fundamental elements of the Appalachian spirit: mining, moonshining, strength, family, religion, and dialect. Bailey stated, "Pride of Appalachia’ is a song that I wanted to write for the rest of the world to feel what it was like to be Appalachian. The Cherokee and various other Native Americans, as well as the Scotch-Irish immigrants, had such an influence over the dialect and the culture, and I wanted people to be able to live in Appalachia through song."

“Pride of Appalachia” was recorded at Homestead Studio in La Plata, MD and mixed and mastered by Caleb Cox. Featured on the tune are Caleb Bailey on lead vocal and guitar; Wyatt Wood on guitar and tenor vocal; Chandler Beavers on mandolin; Brandon Kyle on bass; Merl Johnson on fiddle; Rob Slusser on banjo; and guest Chad Darou on Dobro and baritone vocals. 

"Hard Working Country Preacher Man" was penned by Mark "Brink" Brinkman, Terry Foust, and Dave Evans and tells the tale of bygone days and barn revivals in the south’s Bible belt in Georgia. The descriptive and distinct imagery captivates you from the beginning to the end of the song. "It was such an honor to be able to record one of Brink’s songs. Having a 5-time IBMA nominee for Songwriter of the Year pitch you a song is special, but to be able to cut it and have it as the debut gospel release for this project, is truly an honor. We got a great studio cut, and I'm certain our fans will be enjoying this song for quite some time.”

Brinkmann said, "I co-wrote ‘Hard Working Country Preacher Man’ with my good friends and great songwriters, Mike Evans and Terry Foust. We wanted to capture the life of one of the many people that worked the farm during the week and preached God's Word on the weekend, as these rural areas couldn't afford full-time preachers. Caleb Bailey & Paine's Run really bring our song to life!"

Joining Caleb Bailey on "Hard Working Country Preacher Man" are Wyatt Wood on guitar and tenor; Chandler Beavers on mandolin; Rob Slusser on banjo; Brandon Kyle on bass; and Merl Johnson on fiddle. The song was mixed and mastered by Caleb Cox at Homestead Studio in La Plata, Maryland.

As recently announced, Caleb Bailey & Paine’s Run were chosen as an International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Bluegrass Ramble Showcase Artist. In addition, Caleb Bailey and Tim Stafford were chosen for the IBMA Songwriter Showcase and will perform their original tune, “The Story the Silence Never Told” during this year’s IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, N.C. this fall.

The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) announced that CALEB BAILEY and TIM STAFFORD has been chosen as finalists for the Songwriter Showcase. As a part of the Songwriter Track of the IBMA Business Conference, the Songwriter Showcase is a coveted opportunity which shines a spotlight on ten original compositions by selected songwriters. The writers will perform for an audience of some of the best bluegrass artists and producers in the industry.

The showcase will be held on Thursday, September 28 in the Raleigh Convention Center during the IBMA Business Conference, and is one element of IBMA World of Bluegrass®, September 26 - September 30, 2023.

In addition to the Songwriter Showcase, the Songwriter Track of the IBMA Business Conference provides writers with resources to cultivate their craft, develop solid business practices, network, apply for one-on-one mentoring sessions, and pitch material to bluegrass artists and producers.

These are our first new releases since signing with Turnberry Records earlier this year. Turnberry Records is pleased to announce that bluegrass group Caleb Bailey & Paine’s Run has been added to the label’s impressive and growing roster of recording artists. The 6-piece ensemble hailing from Virginia has ranked on various charts, including holding the #1 slot on the Bluegrass Today Grassicana chart.

The outfit is headed by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Caleb Bailey, who created for himself a successful solo career, followed in 2021 by the creation of the full 6-member lineup of his current band. His solo record Poplar & Pine was a success, featuring Bailey’s first #1 song, “Grim Reaper.” More recently, Caleb Bailey and Paine’s Run garnered attention with the song “Camille,” which tells the story of how that 1969 tempest devastated Nelson County, Virginia.

Bailey is already preparing for his initial one-record, a one-year deal inked with the increasingly popular label. He said he expects his first releases through Turnberry will consist of singles, dropping sometime during the spring, with the full album releasing later in 2023.

Bailey said he is delighted to be added to the Turnberry roster and believes his group will bring benefits to the label as well.

“We’re a traditional bluegrass band that offers a unique sound that we own,” he explained, assuring that listeners won’t find covers on his records. He likens covers to trying to recreate masterpieces. “If you’re a painter, you won’t go out and try to re-paint the Mona Lisa,” he said. “That’s just not original.”

According to Bailey, “Turnberry just seems to be the ‘happening’ place to be.” Bailey said he looks forward to working alongside other quality Turnberry artists, including David Stewart, Greg Blake, and Rebekah Speer.

“We’re now booking for 2023,” Bailey said, “and we want to be part of spearheading the next chapter for Turnberry.”

Grottoes, Va. (November 16, 2022) – Caleb Bailey has released a compelling new gospel single, “Hiram Built the Temple,” to bluegrass, folk, gospel, and Christian radio outlets today. This release kicks off ticket sales for the Caleb Bailey & Paine’s Run dinner and concert event, Merry Mountain Christmas, taking place December 9 and 10, 2022, in Grottoes, Virginia. 

The new single, penned by Bailey, appears on his new album, Camille. “Hiram Built the Temple” is a powerful four-part gospel song that tells the story of Hiram Abiff; the original Mason tasked with building King Solomon’s Temple. I wrote this song on Christmas Day in 2020 while working on shift as a professional fireman while others were home unwrapping gifts; between calls, I was able to unwrap this gospel story to tell the world about the man who built this spectacle of a building,” said Bailey. 

“Hiram Built the Temple” includes the talents of Caleb Bailey on lead vocal and guitar, Joseph Showalter on tenor vocal and fiddle, Chandler Beavers on baritone vocal and mandolin, Wyatt Wood on guitar, Brandon Kyle on bass, and Rob Slusser on bass vocal and banjo. Album Release Coincides with Anniversary of the 1969 Hurricane Camille 
That Devastated Nelson County, Virginia 

Grottoes, Va. (August 2, 2022) – Caleb Bailey is proud to announce his new album, Camille will release on August 19, 2022. Caleb Bailey & Paine’s Run will hold an Album Release Concert at the Nelson County Historical Society in Lovingston, Virginia, on the same day. 

The title track, “Camille,” was written by Caleb Bailey and is based on the 1969 Hurricane Camille, which ranks as the second most intense hurricane to strike the continental United States, including its impact in Nelson County, Virginia. 

Bailey worked with The Nelson County Historical Society, who provided access to countless images of the devastation from 1969 for the band to include in their new “Camille” music video edited by Fletcher’s Devine Creations. The video debuted on The Bluegrass Standard Magazine’s Top 15 Video Chart for July 2022. 

The Nelson County Historical Society was so intrigued by the song and album that they agreed to host the band’s album release concert on August 19, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. at The Nelson Center in Lovingston, Virginia. That is the exact date that Hurricane Camille hit Nelson County in 1969.  The band will give back to the community by donating all proceeds from the ticket sales to The Nelson County Historical Society. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. 

The album Camille includes nine new original songs by Caleb Bailey and the instrumental “Cobalt Rag” written by band member Rob Slusser with assistance from Chase Burley-Smith. 

Mason Via (Old Crow Medicine Show, Top 40 finalist on American Idol) heard the new album and complimented Caleb’s songwriting talents saying, “These songs are so interesting – really unique. It’s hard to find that in the lyrical content of new bluegrass music these days.”

Singer-Songwriter, guitarist, and band leader Caleb Bailey is proud to announce today’s new bluegrass single, “Steele and Stone.” Bailey explained the word “Steele” is a family name and is a play on words on this hot new single. 

“Steele and Stone’ has the feel of old mountain music, with the fiddle/banjo intro. We wanted this song to capture the early 1900s time period. The crowds at our live performances always enjoy this song, so we hope the new listeners will as well,” said Bailey.
